What Are the Ten Relational Forces?
The Ten Relational Forces (traditionally known as the Ten Gods in BaZi) describe how an individual’s core energy symbolically interacts with:
- resources
- expression
- structure
- pressure
- learning
They represent roles and dynamics, not fixed traits or moral judgments.
Peer Force (比肩 · Bi Jian)
Category: Self Alignment
Functional Meaning: Independence, self-identity, internal balance
Peer Force reflects how an individual relates to themselves and those of equal standing. It highlights autonomy, self-definition, and alignment with one’s own principles.
Competitive Force (劫财 · Jie Cai)
Category: Resource Dynamics
Functional Meaning: Competition, boundary testing, peer pressure
Competitive Force represents tension around shared resources and space. It is not aggression, but a symbolic indicator of rivalry, comparison, and growth through challenge.
Creative Output (食神 · Shi Shen)

Functional Meaning: Creativity, nourishment, sustainable productivity
Creative Output symbolizes generative expression — the ability to produce, create, and contribute in ways that support both oneself and others.
Expressive Intelligence (伤官 · Shang Guan)

Opportunistic Resource (偏财 · Pian Cai)

Structured Resource (正财 · Zheng Cai)

External Pressure (七杀 · Qi Sha)

Structural Authority (正官 · Zheng Guan)

Adaptive Insight (偏印 · Pian Yin)

Integrative Support (正印 · Zheng Yin)
